Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDRR) is the main global forum to assess and discuss progress on the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. For the 7th forum, GPDRR is organized by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction with Indonesia as Host Country for 2022. This forum will be held at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) from 23 - 28 May 2022. It is expected that there will be around 4,000 to 5,000 participants from 193 countries, which will also be attended by the secretary-general of the United Nations and a number of certain heads of state, with the involvement of multi-stakeholder participation in person (offline) with online participation modalities for those who cannot attend.

GPDRR is a forum to discuss the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction implementation progress. This Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR) itself is an international document that was adopted by the United Nations member states between 14 and 18 March 2015 at the World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held in Sendai, Japan. The importance of having the forum every two years is to review the progress of knowledge sharing, discuss developments, and the latest trends in disaster management. These issues become very important so that the world can imitate and see the experiences and various policies that Indonesia has made.

The 2022 Global Platform will provide a unique and timely opportunity to showcase the importance of international solidarity and cooperation, as well as to discuss ways to tackle underlying risk drivers both locally and globally. Additionally, it will explore how to strengthen disaster risk governance and how to build stronger systems for managing all types of risks. GP2022 offers a chance for all stakeholders to recommit, with urgency, to accelerate progress on disaster risk reduction towards the achievement of sustainable development.
